It’s about 10:30pm & I’m waiting in Kuala Lumpur International Airport for my 12:30am (6 hour) redeye to Beijing. To my amazement, they actually offer FREE WiFi in the terminals (!).
Anyways, will be back loading some photos & stories from the last few days in Malaysia soon. But just want to report that I am VERY sore from my climb to the 4095m summit of Mt. Kinabalu….which was absolutely breathtaking.
Sweet! Please more posts!
I was surprised that the Las Vegas airport had free WiFi too… pretty sweet. Apparently it’s common in smaller US Airports (Manchester, NH but not Boston, MA, Colorado Springs but not Denver, etc).
Congrats on the summit! Next you need to do Rainier, but I doubt Chris will want to do that again in the near future. Enjoy China!
Can’t wait to see your pictures from Malaysia. How was the food? Take care, lah! ๐
Food would be fabulous here in Malaysia. But after 26 years eating the same thing, you kind of get bored with it. ๐
Can’t wait to see the pics of Mt. Kinabalu. as I’ve never been there before. I doubt I can make it to the top. LOL!
please tell me you got to eat some hawker food. especially if you went to penang. yum, there’s an amazing barley drink (cool and refreshing), hokkien mee (spicy and flavorful), indian breakfast sweets and a shrimp paste they use in rice and in veggies (malay word (phonetic)-balazhan). ah…i’m salavating
My quads are still sore. ๐
Yes, we were able to have some good Malaysia food. Although, since we were at the conference most of the time in KL, I didn’t get to have any hawker food. ๐ I did have some some excellent local lamb curry though in Kota Kinabalu. (No idea what actual name of dish was.)
In China so far, I’ve definitely gotten to have some good street food in the hutongs. I’ve tried Jiรก jฤซ dร n and chuan and those steamed pork buns. Definitely interested in recommendations if you have them!
Ah, belacan! When my wife (penangese) cooks veggies with belacan in our swiss kitchen, the neighbours talk about it the next day (“what *was* that smell???”)
Dashken, I humbly disagree. After 36 years eating swiss fondue, I still love it ๐ Damn I miss malaysian food again (and to think I was there less than 2 months ago…)

I think KLIA just implemented the free WIFI this week. You’re lucky!
