travel

Kyoto

Backstory: I was super annoyed at myself. Having made the Tokyo-to-Kyoto journey to photograph the red gates, I discovered a near empty camera battery. Idiot!

Not knowing how many shots I had, I was rushing and anxious – and the photographs showed it.

I had just put my camera down when I saw this Shinto priest… I shot one frame on manual without looking through the viewfinder.

It’s the exact photograph I didn’t know I wanted to take 🙂

Here’s to being lucky – and knowing your shot when you see it.

Happy New Year!
