On the beach!

Arrived in Ko Samui two days ago and stayed one night in Chaweng. It was awful. I’ve never been to Cancun… but it looked like they could have filmed MTV Spring Break there.

Yesterday, we caught a ferry to Ko Phan Ngan and are now on a small beach called Thong Nai Pan Noi. We’re staying in a small bungalow in a place called Baan Panburi. Our hut costs 650 baht a night (about 12 bucks), and comes fully equiped with fan, mosquito netting, and cold water. 🙂 It’s beautiful.

The beach is quiet, there’s lots of sun, and the restaurant is great.

It’s right on the beach.  🙂

  1. “Looked like” they could have filmed MTV spring break there? Karen! We all know you were on Girls Gone Wild Vol. 7.

Joking aside, your trip sounds wonderful! What I want to know — what’s the food like? Your favorite dish or most unexpected taste?

  2. My favorite so far is a northern thai dish called “Kao Sui.” It’s amazing – curry with both hard & soft noodles. I had never heard of it before.

The food overall is *really* tasty… especially the food they sell on the street. I bought some awesome pad thai for something like 40 baht (1.00 USD). They made it for me right there on the side of the road. 🙂
