Just got the last of my film developed (yes, developed 🙂 ) from Thailand/Cambodia. This roll was b&w of Angkor. I’ve posted the ones I liked. On the camera front, some news: I’ve just ordered my very first digital camera, a Fuji V10. This means I’m officially retiring my trusty 8 year old film point & shoot. I’ll still be using my film SLR… but I suspect that once Nikon’s digital SLRs, like the D200, come down to a reasonable price (AKA not $1600) I will probably be swayed. The practicialities of digital are hard to deny… Not carrying around a 10 lb SLR w/ a bag of film. Preview …

Took advantage of a BEAUTIFUL Seattle Saturday and day tripped to Whidbey Island. Felt very lucky to be 2 hours away from such peaceful serene vistas… We started by having lunch in Coupeville. They made these amazing sandwiches on 2 inch slices of homemade bread.

Snowboarding (AKA falling on your ass)

I went snowboarding for the first time last Wednesday. It was beautiful day – sunny, warm, clear. It was a less-than-ideal snow day – icey, wet, hard. Result? Beautiful landscape and a pleasurable lift ride up the mountain. And a very very sore bum.

Spanish Me

Last September, I wrote a whitepaper for work. I *just* found out it was translated to Spanish. For some reason, I thought that was super cool (and hence, transitively, i’m super cool). And no, I haven’t finished reading the spanish verison. (Still about halfway through the introduction…)

Back in Seattle

It’s difficult to grock that “this morning” (well, 41 hours ago — that international date line can really mess with you) I was in Bangkok. Tomorrow, I’m back at work. Vacation is over. 🙁 Thailand and Cambodia are beautiful countries. I highly recommend. p.s. I’ll be back posting more pictures & stories in the next week or two.

Last day on the beach…

A couple highlights: The beach that we’re on is probably about half a mile long. (I’m really bad at guessing distances — it takes about 15 minutes to walk it.) The most people we’ve seen on the entire beach at a time is about 75. Got my first thai massage two days ago. It’s amazing… this women uses her elbows, feet, knees. At some point I was hanging practically upside down. The massage is done on this covered platform on the beach. There was a breeze, soft thai music playing, wooden wind chimes, and the ocean lapping. An hour massage for 6.50 USD. I’ve gotten …

New Digs on the Beach

We decided to upgrade our bungalow to an uber deluxe beachfront hut. There’s a patio, air conditioning, and hot water. It costs a whopping 1600 Baht (40 USD). For another 2 bucks, we bought a hammock to hang on the patio. The view at sunrise was beautiful.

Arrived in Ko Samui two days ago and stayed one night in Chaweng. It was awful. I’ve never been to Cancun… but it looked like they could have filmed MTV Spring Break there. Yesterday, we caught a ferry to Ko Phan Ngan and are now on a small beach called Thong Nai Pan Noi. We’re staying in a small bungalow in a place called Baan Panburi.
